July 2007:
A testimony from Lavern Burnett regarding healing and the mighty works of God
Back in 2005 I was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer. Like so many I had no family history of cancer. Last year was the hardest in my Life. I thought I would not make it but God had a different plan for me. I put all my trust and faith in God and was delivered from Cancer.
My advise to all cancer patients is to first put all your trust in God and he will do the rest. Second, your family (whether it's your relatives, friends, church, neighbors and/or work colleague) will be your support system. I always talk to someone when I need to. Third, find a talented and caring doctor who will be concerned more about your health and not his wealth.
Two week ago I had my final surgery. Where my doctor removed my port which was used for my chemotherapy. This ended my battle with cancer. On November 28, 2005 I was told by my Gynecologist (Dr. Oliveria, Palm Bay, FL) that I have stage 1 Endometrial (Uterine) Cancer. He then referred me to the best Gyno-Oncologist (Dr. Bomalaski, Viera FL) in the world. We agreed that a total hysterectomy was necessary. In January of 2006 I had my surgery which showed that my cancer had rapidly moved from a stage 1 to a stage 3 (spread from my uterus to my ovaries) in less than two month. The decision to have chemotherapy was not a choice, it was necessary. My doctor counseled me in preparation to begin chemotherapy in February 2006. I was given six treatments within four months (one treatment every three weeks). Since, my cancer was already a stage 3, my doctor decided that full dose chemotherapy was necessary. Cancer was not my challenge but Chemotherapy was. Chemo kept me down for a week and a half to two weeks after ever treatment, which prevented me from working. Just when I would get strong enough to stand on my own, it would be time for another treatment. I held on and I had faith in God which kept my spirits high. I completed my chemotherapy treatments back in May of 2006. Since my chemotherapy was so potent it has left me Diabetic, with a neurological disease call Neuropathy and also mild seizure, which prevents me from going back to work. However, it's been over a year and I am still Cancer Free. Thank be to God and all the wonderful people he has placed in my life (especial my teenage son, LaQuawayne) during my challenge with cancer.
Cancer patients must be encouraged that with all the technology there is hope for you because there was hope for me. My purpose in life now is a lot different since I won my battle with cancer. I use my test as a testimony to encourage cancer patients that there is hope. I prayed that God will lead me, guide me, walk with me, delivery me and heal me from cancer. I read Psalm 27, The Lord is my light and my salvation. Through God's Amazing Grace he looked beyond my faults and say my need. God's Grace and mercy brought me trough and delivered me from cancer. There is no secret what God can do what he done for me he will do it for so many other because he has given me one more time. On August 27, 2006, a day before my birthday I gave my life to the Lord and I had my rebirth. The Lord is now the head of my Life and my home.
I also want to thank you Charmaine and The Rose of Sharing for keep me in your prayers and encouraging me while I've was home fighting cancer and recovering. Like you I am a strong African American woman.
May God bless and keep you always,
Lavern V. Burnett

January 2006:
January was the month the Rose of Sharing spent hours at the hospital visiting many families. An Eighty Five year old woman and her daughter were inspired to face life with the support of our partner's funds and prayers.
February 2006:
The month of love was spent sharing and loving others in Ministry. We supported the Mighty House of Rescue in Ghana, West Africa with finances to help strengthen its community. Devine Grace received support from us in their Board meeting and was given ideas on how to work with the Rose of Sharing and other community services with expert advice from the Rose of Sharing Executive Director and Coordinator of programs.
Hospital visits were a thing for us when many individuals had to return back for treatment. A young single mother was confused; the Rose of Sharing supported her with counseling, prayers, community services and referrals to other agencies. Her success story is: Ms. Ramirez went into shelter in Corpus Christi because the Rose of Sharing works without walls or borders. Once she went to a safe home (a shelter in Corpus), she was able to focus thereby, providing a healthy environment for and her child. Two supportive partners of the Rose of Sharing contributed a gift certificate to help her with supplies for the baby and her personal needs. Update: mother and baby are doing superb and we are spoiled with tons of picture showing them smiling and looking great.
March 2006:
This month was a challenge, our Board of Director Chair was gravely ill and the Executive Director had to coordinate many of the Rose of Sharing programs from the hospital. The Rose still kept the beat and was able to counsel anyone that was in a crisis. A gentleman called around 4 a.m. and the Rose of Sharing ministry was there for him because his wife was having mental issues and he was scared she would harm the children. The situation was resolved with counseling and recommendations resulted in the family regaining their strength to be productive individuals once again in the community. This family is sticking together like glue and no more occurrences since July 2006.
April 2006:
A family was experiencing tremendous hardship and partners of the Rose of Sharing supplied them with clothing, food, money, pots and pans, and you name it they got it. The emotional support knowing someone cared was the best gift the Rose of Sharing gave to this family. The wife had her second child without having a miscarriage. The husband was restrained from emotional ups and downs and this home has resulted in a safe environment for the baby, the toddler, husband and wife.
May 2006:
Prayer was needed more than ever this month - the Christian community of the Rose of Sharing did their best with intercessory prayers, funding to support the Mighty House to apply for their Travel Visa to the USA. Prayer and support went out for a young lady that called the Rose of Sharing in January for prayer for a successful surgery; this young lady is still in the hospital, but once the support of prayers, love and hospital visit became available to her this month, this lady's road to recovery drastically improved. She is one of our miracle success stories of what the power of prayer can do. Cancer, healing from the AIDS with medication the disease showing signs of improvement, and hepatitis are miracles of healing that are the best updates for the month of May 2006. In Florida, we mourned the lost of a precious person loosing their battle with cancer. But we celebrate the news that cervical cancer is now in remission for a dear young lady. One of our partners loved her with the power of a dozen yellow roses. We later followed up with laughter and encouragement. The latest update to the ministry is this young lady now is doing great and is preparing to return back to work. She is trying to focus more on life and screamed as she watched the space shuttle take off through the windows of her bedroom in Florida.
June 2006:
Thank you GIFT WORKS Inc sponsored by TECH SOUP for providing The Rose of Sharing with a software donation of $399.00. This donation has allowed the Rose of Sharing to better track our financials. This software is very easy to learn providing less of a learning curve for our volunteers and accountant.
We are still visiting our miracle (Ms. S) at Medical City of Dallas and each time we visit the hospital, the Medical City of Dallas Parking attendants have volunteered to credit The Rose of Sharing International Ministry Inc. for our parking tickets. Thank you each time for your support in our numerous visits to the hospital Medical City of Dallas Parking facility. This month will be remembered for the lost of the Board Chair's cousin in Ghana, West Africa. The ministry prays for all families that have experienced a loss this year. We ask God to heal each and every one of you.
WE NOW CELEBRATE THE GREAT THINGS TO COME FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR. THANKS AGAIN PARTNERS, THE ROSE COULD NOT HAVE DONE THESE GREAT THINGS IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR WITHOUT YOU.
*Our greatest need is that someone will bless us with a great Webpage. This will enable us to share our ministry better with pictures, event calendars, etc, and the great things the Rose of Sharing is doing in the community and around the world.*
UPDATES: Our blessing happen January 2007 and because of that our work have expanded in the community and around the world.
****Thank you God!! Thank you for all you do partners, friends and ministries of the Rose of Sharing. It is because of your gifts and commitments to this we are able to be a blessing in helping the community****

A young man was able to keep his family from becoming homeless with the generous donation of our partners. Update: he has a new job, experiencing better health; wife is coping better with the counseling support gathered for her through the Rose's Resources of others in the community base and social services referrals.
